Founded in 1982 by Kevin O'Brien, the O'Brien Realty Group started as a property management company for apartment and condominium communities. Multifamily brokerage and renovation/construction divisions were added the following year.

The company's first acquisition was completed in 1983, an eighty unit distressed apartment complex in Hartford, Connecticut. Over the next twenty-six years the O'Brien Realty Group has focused exclusively on the acquisition, renovation, repositioning and management of distressed multifamily properties.

The Company has successfully completed the turnaround of forty distressed multifamily projects and revitalized more than three thousand apartment units.

The O'Brien Realty Group currently owns and manages 1,274 apartment units in Charlotte, North Carolina and 889 apartment units in New Orleans, Louisiana.
